The East Bay Depot's Mission: The
East Bay Depot for Creative ReUse
is a nonprofit corporation devoted to getting people to reuse materials.
Since the early '80s, the Depot has been promoting solid waste diversion
and resource conservation by collecting and redistributing reusable materials
for education, arts & crafts, and a wide variety of other creative
projects. The Depot also spreads the word about the importance of waste
reduction, recycling, and reusable materials through a school-based environmental
education cirriculum. In the Depot Store are displays of many creative
reuse projects that have been developed by our staff, customers, and local
artisans. We invite you to come in to be inspired to create something
useful -or simply beautiful- for yourself or for someone you know. |

The East Bay Depot was established by two teachers almost 30 years ago as a teacher's network and materials exchange. Since then, it has grown into a large nonprofit organization and store where teachers, artists, and anyone can find low-cost reuse items. While the Depot still carries a wide variety of reuse, used, and new art supplies, it also has books, magazines, party supplies, office supplies, paper, small furniture, fabric, frames, artwork, jewelry, and many unique and vintage items. The entire Depot inventory is made from donated materials, and all donated items are eligible for a tax deduction. Thanks to the wonderful donations from generous business, nonprofit partners, and Depot customers, you'll find new and unique items every time you visit the EBD. In addition to the Depot Store, the East Bay Depot also facilitates Special Events, and educational programs like Art in the Heart, where children learn about the importance of reuse and recycling while creating arts and crafts from reuse materials. So whether you are teacher looking for low-cost materials, and artist looking for inspiration, a collector or all things strange and unique, or just an environmentally concious consumer looking for amazing deals, the East Bay Depot for Creative ReUse is the place for you.
